Rodney Martinez will hold a solo art exhibition at Charlie’s Art Gallery in Italia Restaurant, Bacolod this weekend.*

Entitled “Nature’s Playground,” Martinez is offering a more colorful take on nature which is far from his usual artworks of women, children and seascapes that he is known for.

“Painting is an unending search and one must always continue,” Martinez said of his new collection that explored new forms, colors and techniques derived from his favorite subjects.

This journey, he added, has produced a fresh kind of idea in totally new creations.

Martinez has created a name for himself in the local and national art scene through countless solo exhibitions. He is a favorite exhibitor in the annual ANP’s Negros Trade Fair where his artworks fly off the shelves in a matter of days.

He was a recipient of the 2018 Banwahanon Award for visual art and was also awarded as one of the Four Pillars of Art in Bacolod.

He finished his Fine Arts major in Advertising at the University of Sto. Tomas where he was accorded Most Outstanding Alumnus in the field of Fine Arts in 1982. Martinez also taught at the La Consolacion College Bacolod in the Department of Architecture and Fine Arts from 1975 to 1991 and where he became a recipient of the 1990 Artist of the Year Award and the La Consolacion College Centennial Award.* (PPR)
