Officers of the newly-formed Kabankalan City Small Farmers and Fishers Alliance (KACSFFA) has just held its Visioning Workshop today Tuesday, May 23.

Composed of 16 small farmers and fishers people’s organisations,(POs), the alliance aims to build greater unity and solidarity among the basic and marginalized sectors in the city. The workshop defined the vision, mission, goals and strategy of the alliance.

Alma Macario, elected alliance chair, has said KACSFFA will push for the basic sectors rights and welfare as well as formulate and advocate for its sustainable development agenda in the city.

KACSFFA is being assisted by PRRM-NEGROS, the oldest primary NGO in the country.

Margarita Francisco, local small fishers leader and KACSFFA vice chair, said the alliance will banner issues and concerns of small fishers and farmers on food security, poverty alleviation and good environmental governance.

No less than Kabankalan Mayor Benjie Miranda recently inducted the KACSFFA officers. Current Vice Mayor Miguel Zayco and former Vice Mayor and present PRRM-NEGROS Chapter Chair Raul Rivera also attended and spoke at the induction.* (PRRM-Negros)
